Goal Zero Yeti: every model and generation compared
Goal Zero has used the same Yeti numbers for more than one generation. The six in its current range, from the Yeti 300 to the Yeti PRO 4000, are its 6th generation, with LiFePO4 cells rated 4,000 cycles. The 1000X, 1500X and 1000 Core before them have NMC cells rated 500 cycles. The newest is the Yeti 1500 ($1,499.95 at Goal Zero, checked Oct 9, 2026): 1,505 Wh and 2,000 W.

Own an X-series Yeti or a Core?
The 1000X, 1500X, 3000X, 6000X and 1000 Core, and the Lithium Yetis before them, use NMC cells that Goal Zero rates for 500 cycles to 80% of their capacity: charged once a day, that is under a year and a half. Goal Zero's user guide for the 6th-generation Yeti 1000 and 1500 says neither works with Tank expansion batteries or expansion modules, so a Tank bought for a 1500X does not carry over. Of the current Yetis, only the Yeti PRO 4000 takes extra batteries, its own Tank PRO 4000. The battery chemistry guide explains the difference between the cells.
What a Yeti runs
On a full charge, by the calculator's 85% allowance for inverter losses, a CPAP with its humidifier (53 W) runs about 8 hours on the Yeti 500, 10.9 on the Yeti 700 and 24.1 on the Yeti 1500.
A full-size refrigerator needs about 1,300 W for a moment when its compressor starts. The Yeti 300, Yeti 500 and Yeti 700 are rated for 600 to 1,000 W of surge, so they cannot start one; the Yeti 1000, Yeti 1500 and Yeti PRO 4000 are rated for 3,600 to 7,200 W. What a Yeti costs against other brands
At Goal Zero's prices the current Yetis cost $1.00 to $1.20 per watt-hour. For each of them, another brand sells a LiFePO4 unit of similar capacity with at least the same output for 46% to 65% less per watt-hour. Goal Zero gives each Yeti a 5-year warranty; the units below state 5 to 7 years.
Similar capacity (0.8 to 1.25 times the Yeti's), at least the Yeti's continuous output, at the makers' prices.

Questions buyers ask
Which Goal Zero Yeti should I buy?
It depends on what you plug in. The Yeti 300, Yeti 500 and Yeti 700 give 350 to 600 W of continuous output, for laptops, lights, a CPAP or a 12 V fridge. For a microwave, a coffee maker or a full-size refrigerator, the Yeti 1500 gives 2,000 W and 1,505 Wh at 52.8 lb. The Yeti PRO 4000 is for home backup.
What is the difference between the Yeti 1500X and the new Yeti 1500?
The 1500X has NMC cells rated 500 cycles and charged from the wall in 14 hours on its included supply. The Yeti 1500 has LiFePO4 cells rated 4,000 cycles and charges in 1.1 hours on its fast setting. It weighs 52.8 lb against 45.6, and it does not take the 1500X's Tank expansion batteries.
Is the Goal Zero Yeti 1000X discontinued?
Goal Zero still lists it, with the 1500X, 3000X, 6000X and 1000 Core, but all were sold out on its US store on Oct 11, 2026. The 6th-generation Yeti 1000 has the same number, with LiFePO4 cells and a 2,000 W inverter.
